This project (Yastoron) is part of the action research course offered in Dar Al Fikr. Dar Al Fikr schools is a non-profit educational institution located in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. The action research course provides a brief outlook for 12th-grade students on the systemic world of adults.
Students are assigned to research various fields; four of which were proposed for them to work in: Business and Economics, STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics), Arts & Design, and Language Arts. Consequently, students are required to choose a field, identify a problem, create a solution or enhance a given solution in desired companies.
The action research course teaches students both hard and soft skills; hard skills that are required in the workforce; such as reading and locating information, problem-solving, and critical thinking, and soft or behavioral skills; such as adaptability, integrity, cooperation, discipline, and improved social interaction.
How did the idea come about?
We were asked to choose a specific problem in order to try to solve it through the graduation project. Among the ideas, this problem occurred to me, the lack of Arabic content online. This problem is familiar to every Arab, and is proven by the statistics. Compared to the rest of the world's languages, Arabic content on the Internet is lacking, especially since the Arabic language is the sixth most spoken language in the world. However, it ranks only thirteenth in terms of percentage of content on the Internet.
